Marie Ethel Anderson was born on March 28, 1939, in Washington DC to Paul and Lillian Anderson. She grew up near Clinton Maryland in a house her father built. She was baptized on 10/09/1939 and confirmed 06/ 03/1952 at Christ Church (Episcopal) Clinton. She wanted to be a nurse. After graduating from the University of Maryland she was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in January of 1961. After some training at Gunter AFB AL, she was assigned to the USAF hospital at Andrews AFB in Washington DC where she worked in the OB ward. In 1963 she was transferred to the 317th TAC Hospital in Evreux-Fauville Air Base in France where she continued delivering babies but also enjoyed seeing Paris and the rest of Europe. She returned to the United States in the fall of 1966 to continue her studies at an AFIT program at the University of Maryland. In 1968 she was transferred to Tinker AFB in Oklahoma as the charge nurse in the surgical unit. In 1970 she was sent oversees to Clark AB in the Philippines in pediatrics. Returning home she was assigned as the medical surgical nurse at the USAF hospital in Laredo TX. In 1973 she became an anesthetist at Willford Hall Hospital here in San Antonio TX. She retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service on 31 January 1981. After retirement, she continued to be an active member of the San Antonio community. She worked for Christa Santa Rosa Hospital as a nurse for some time, and she even got a real-estate license and sold homes. As a member of St Andrew's Episcopal Church, she worked tirelessly for the good of the community. She served on the Vestry, sang in the choir, was a member of the Daughters of the King, and was a Lay Eucharistic Minister. She also contributed substantially to the renovations of the educational building which now bears her name, the Anderson House. Marie died on July 27th, 2025, and is survived by her many friends. Visitation will begin on Saturday, August 1, 2025 beginning at 11:00am, followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00pm at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park North, with Full Air Force Honors.
