Makayla La'Shea Harrison, affectionately known as "Baby" or "Kayla", was born October 9, 1998 to Monica Harrison and the late Gary Eugene Williams, Sr.
Kayla was a graduate of Asheville High School, Class of 2017 and participated in dance, theater and ROTC. After graduation, she became a kindergarten teachers assistant at Vance Elementary School. She was also an after school teachers assistant at the Chosen POD at Arthur Edington Education and Career Center. Kayla had a passion for the kids and they were very fond of her. To know her was to love her. She was always the life of the party.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Monique Harrison and Miracle Williams; maternal grandmother, the world renowned singer, Willie Mae Harrison; great uncle, Clayton Harrison, maternal great grandmother Ethel Lee Harrison; paternal great grandmother Maude Gaines; paternal grandfather, William Fleetwood Calhoun; paternal great grandparents, William and Annie Lee Calhoun.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving mother and best friend, Monica Harrison, (Gene), whom she loved and adored; brother, Marlon Harrison (Tiffany), very special niece, Mahogany; nephew, Major, who was her super star; brothers, Tevon and Devon Whitmire, Gary Williams, Jr.and Rodrigez Williams; nieces, Madge and Nova Williams; special aunt, Michelle Harrison(Rabbit), special cousin, Maurice Harrison; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral Service will be 3:00pm Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
