Patricia Camara Obituary

Pat attended Reynolds High School and graduated from Pisgah High School, Class of 1967. She had the voice of an angel and began singing in her childhood church, Harris Chapel AME Zion Church of Canton. Pat became a member of Nazareth First Missionary Baptist Church. She served as member of the Voices of Nazareth, Combined Choir, Sunday school, Missionaries, Hospitality Ministry; and anywhere she could offer a helping hand. In 2009, she retired from the Buncombe County Department of Social Services with 25 years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, William Gibbs, Jr., Charles Gibbs, Doyle Gibbs; sisters, Edwina Hall and Geraldine Leigh; daughter-in-law, Wendy Carter.
Left to cherish her memory are children, Otis Carter, Megan Jackson-Smith, Tiffany Jackson-Herbin (Mellissa); grandchildren, Shade Bennett, Wesley Smith, Kaleb Carter, Malik Smith, Kimberlee Simpson, Daryan Jackson, Kadeem Smith, Marcus Carter; brothers, Hillard Gibbs (Thelma), Phillip Gibbs (Linda), Stanley Gibbs; sisters, Agnes Bryson, Carolyn Wallace, Ann McAdams (Wallace); a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 1:00pm Monday, November 11, 2024 at Nazareth First Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service.

Worked at social services with Pat several years. she was a great christian alway her i would go to when prayer was needed she would always say every thing is going to work out especially raising a teenager and it did ! my daughter turned out wonderful> she sang so beautiful i am sure heaven s choir it singing Go tell it on the mountain with her now!! I will never forget her wonderful laugh! she was a great friend! rest in peace pat! charlene Marlowe
