Malcolm "Red" Hugh Ballmer, 92, of New Albany, formerly of Reynoldsburg, went home to the Lord on August 29, 2025. He was born on January 24, 1933 in Columbus, to the late Stanford and Helen (Dolder) Ballmer. He married Eileen Sanderell on January 22, 1955 and was a devoted husband for 70 years until her passing on March 13, 2025. They created a large and loving family together.

Red graduated high school and immediately enlisted in the United States Navy. He served from 1952 to 1956 as a Storekeeper 3rd Class.

When he returned from service, Red worked as a sworn Police Officer for Grandview Heights Police Department from 1959 to 1984. After retirement as a sworn officer, Red worked as a Dispatcher in the radio room for Grandview Heights Police Department from 1984 until his full retirement in 1994.

When Red wasn’t working, he loved to go camping. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching football. He also had an extensive collection of model police cars, whimsical pencil sharpeners and unique clocks. He will be remembered for his quick wit and humor. He loved making people laugh.
