Funeral services will be held Friday, February 2, 2024 at 11:00 am in the Sunrise Chapel at Walters Funeral Home for Malcolm James Walters, 82, who passed away January 29, 2024 at his residence. Deacon Ken Soignier will officiate the services. Interment will be in Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Jennings, LA.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Gail Walters of Lafayette; one daughter, Shelly Walters of Lafayette; two sons, MSgt. Tony (Christina) Walters (Retired) of New Braunfels, TX and Lt. Col. Chris (Tina) Walters of Kathleen, GA; nine grandchildren, Nicole Touchette, Michael Walters, Kayla Walters, Chase Dickinson, Jessica Walters, Christina Knox, Victoria Walters, Felix Walters, and Logan Walters; and four great-grandchildren, Khaoz Smith, Harper Touchette, Kate Touchette, and Leia Walters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lobelia and Joseph Walters; two brothers, Gerald Walters and Raymond Walters; and one sister, Nell Hernandez.
Malcolm was born and reared in Lafayette. He traveled the world with the United States Air Force and lived in many locations before returning home in 2007.
Pallbearers will be Michael Walters, Chase Dickinson, Felix Walters, Logan Walters, Khaoz Smith, and Johnny Walters.
The family requests that visitation be held Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm, and resume Friday morning at 8:00 am until time of service.
