Malcolm James Renney, 40 years old, passed away August 24, 2025, at his home in West Olympia, Washington.

He will be remembered as a warm, kind and generous man, always sharing his material possessions with those he thought less fortunate than he. He was a friend to many- both near and far and will not be forgotten by those who knew him. The heartache and grief felt at this loss, from his family, is unfathomable.

He struggled under so many burdens in his 40 years, surviving time after time hardships that would have sunk others. The last 11 months of his life he fought with unbelievable tenacity after receiving a terminal diagnosis and died on hospice services.

Born in Tacoma WA, to Linda and Lee J. Renney, he lived his early years in Puyallup. His sister, Anna Renney, was born three years later. He attended The Waldorf School in Olympia, St Michael's middle school and graduated from Olympia High School.

In earlier years he was a quick athlete and excelled in team sports, esp. baseball, playing on the varsity team. He loved snowboarding/skiing and was airborne more than not. He skateboarded and rollerbladed. He worked a season as a ski lift operator. He loved hiking the trails, backpacking and fishing. He could catch crab with his bare hands.

In later years he enjoyed cooking and loved his "sauces". He enjoyed video games, cribbage, arcade games and collected sports cards.

He is survived by his mother Linda A Nielsen and sister, Anna Marie Renney.

May you be free, may you know peace and may the angles guide your way onwards.

A Memorial Service will be held at Funeral Alternative in Tumwater October 10, 2025, from 1-4pm.
