I thank my God upon every remembrance of you. ~ Philippians 1:3
Mallory Mitchell, 78, of Baker, FL passed away on August 31, 2024. He was born in Crestview, FL in 1945 to Wilson and Doris Mitchell. Mallory attended Baker School graduating in 1964 before going on to work for Okaloosa Gas for 25 years. Mallory met the love of his life, Linda, while in high school, and they were married in 1967. They celebrated more than 56 loving years of marriage together. Mallory and Linda had two children, Eric and Monica, who meant the world to them. They could not have asked for a better father to love and support them through life. Mallory was a faithful servant of the Lord and was a long-time Deacon for the Community of Christ Church. Though Mallory loved fishing, hunting, softball, gardening and card playing, he loved his grandchildren more. He was a true Pops, who spoiled them every chance he got. Mallory was the definition of generosity, a Christian, a loving husband and family man, but more importantly, a good man, which upon further reflection scarcely does justice in defining him.
Mallory is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda; his children, Eric (Angie) Mitchell and Monica (David) LaRoque and his grandchildren: Ethan, Erin and Matthew Mitchell, and Alyssa, Daleah, and Jacob LaRoque. He is also survived by his brother, Earl; his brother-in law, Ernie (Reba) Martin and their children: Taylor (Garrett) Meadows and Reid Martin; his aunt Ouida (Geech) Broxson; along with numerous cousins, friends and other extended family members as well as close family friend, Dewayne Walther.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 7, at the Crestview Community of Christ Church at 398 W. First Avenue. Viewing will begin at 10:00 AM with the service starting at 11:00 AM. A potluck will follow. Burial will be at the Beaver Creek Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Seventy Berry Ellis and Elder Ernie Martin are officiating with Whitehurst-Powell funeral home overseeing the arrangements.
The family asks that donations be made to the Crestview Homeless Shelter in Mallory's name. They also ask now that Mallory is gone, that others step in and do their part to help control the catfish, mullet, and bluegill populations.
