Church Point, LA: Funeral Services will be held at 3:30 PM Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point, LA for Mamie L. Benoit, 82, the former Mamie Lavergne. Mrs. Benoit, a native of Church Point and resident of Lafayette, LA, died Tuesday morning, March 18 at Heart Hospital of Lafayette. Fr. Brian Harrington, Pastor of the Church, will conduct the Services with Interment immediately following in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery on Hwy 35 north of Church Point.
Survivors include her daughters, Kathy Cannata and husband Pete of Lafayette and Tammy Blackwell and husband Kevin of Broussard, LA; her sons, Gary Benoit and wife Donna of Carencro, LA and Cory Benoit and wife Kelli of Lafayette; her grandchildren: Macy and Emily Blackwell, Kevin Blackwell, Jr., Bailey and Blake Benoit and Samantha Cannata; a great-grandchild, Harper Dean; her sisters: Connie Prudhomme of Port Barre, LA, Rosie Pitre of Denham Springs, LA, Janelle Carriere of Church Point, Norma Bearb of Duson, LA, Diane Credeur of Carencro and Faye Thompson of Houston, TX and her brothers, Clyde Lavergne of Carencro and Raphael Elkins of Church Point. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin J. Benoit; her parents, Elizia and Marie Perry Lavergne; her stepmother, Thelma A. Lavergne; a sister and three brothers.
Visitation will be held at Guidry Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 19 and continue from 11:00 AM Thursday until the time of Services. A Rosary will be recited at 6:30 PM Wednesday by Deacon Byrne Winn.
Mrs. Benoit was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Truly loved, she will be missed by all who knew her. Arrangements are being handled by Guidry Funeral Home, Inc.; 219 N. Broadway, Church Point, LA (337) 684-5488.
