Mandy Marie DeLong, beloved daughter of Alan and Linda (Meyer) DeLong, was born in Sioux Falls, SD, alongside her twin sister, Melody. Their arrival was filled with uncertainty, and they were baptized at the hospital shortly after birth. They were later confirmed at American Lutheran Church in Milbank, SD.
Mandy and Melody grew up in Milbank, where they shared a close bond with their family. Mandy attended Milbank School, graduating from Milbank High School and later participating in programs through both the Milbank school system and ATCO in Watertown, SD. During this time, the twins lived at home with their parents and sisters, creating many cherished memories together.
Both Mandy and Melody became part of the LifeQuest program in Milbank, where they developed valuable life and work skills. Mandy worked at Hardee’s and enjoyed helping put away breakfast at the Lantern Inn. In 2018, the family relocated to Missouri.
Mandy had a bright and gentle spirit. She loved the color pink and had a deep appreciation for flowers, especially roses. She enjoyed playing games of all kinds, particularly on her cellphone and laptop, and had a special love for Mickey Mouse. She was an animal lover and was devoted to her late dog, Molly.
For two and a half years, Mandy bravely battled breast cancer, which later spread to her bones. The loss of her twin sister, Melody, in April 2025 was incredibly difficult for her, but she faced each day with courage and love for those around her.
Mandy will be forever loved and missed by her parents: Alan and Linda DeLong of Bolivar, MO; sisters: Amy DeLong and Emily DeLong of Bolivar, MO; aunts, uncles, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by brother, Christopher DeLong, sisters: Ashley DeLong and twin sister, Melody DeLong; paternal grandparents: Orion and Ann DeLong; maternal grandparents: Albert and Ida Meyer; and several aunts and uncles.
