Manuel Cordova Jr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, at the age of 75, in San Antonio, Texas. Born on July 10, 1950, in Charlotte, Texas, Manuel lived a life full of devotion, service, and passion. Manuel was a dedicated professional in the lumber and construction industry. In the 11th grade, he started working for Benz and Klumb Lumber Company in Jourdanton. In 1987, he joined MG Building and Materials in San Antonio where he retired from. Retirement life was not in his nature, so he went back to work part-time for MG Building and Materials in Pleasanton. Manuel's remarkable skill set with numbers led him to be one of the most sought-out individuals amongst builders and contractors. Throughout his life, Manuel's warm and observant personality drew others to him. After graduating from Jourdanton High School, he joined the Air Force Reserves and served as a medic for over 6 years at Lackland Air Force Base and Kelly Air Force Base. Manuel was also a valued member of the Jourdanton City Council, where he volunteered his time and energy for the betterment of his community. While his professional accomplishments were notable, it is his gentle spirit and quiet strength that will be most remembered by those who knew him well. Manuel had a deep love and connection for the outdoors. He spent many joyful hours raccoon, coon hunting, as it's best known, with his wife's beloved grandpa Ysidro Ortiz. He also loved deer hunting and fishing in Port Aransas. His great passion in life was raising and racing pigeons and he has trophies to show for it. This passion brought him much happiness and created cherished memories for his family. He also had a talent for woodworking, crafting pieces that will remain as lasting symbols of his creativity and skill. He built a curio cabinet for his wife, patio swings for family and friends, elaborate book cases for his children, and many other pieces that will be treasured. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Carmen Cordova, his daughter Melinda Garcia (husband Arthur), and his son Thomas "Tommy" Cordova (wife Laura); brothers Joe Cordova (wife Ruth), and Domingo Cordova (wife Amanda); sisters Antonia Mendez (husband Alfonso) and Anita Trevino (husband Andy). Manuel was a beloved grandfather better known as "Pa" to his grandchildren Kaitlyn Cordova, Mason Cordova, Lainey Cordova, Jason Cordova, Arthur Garcia, and Athena Garcia. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by the reciting of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Pleasanton with burial at San Jose Cemetery in Jourdanton. Manuel was preceded in death by his parents Manuel Sr. and Christina Cordova, brothers Jesus "Jesse" and David Cordova.
