Manuel Ramirez Gonzalez, 71, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025 surrounded by his family at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka.

Manny was born on May 5, 1954 in Midland, TX to the late Juan and Lucy (Ramirez) Gonzalez. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Gonzalez.

On October 22, 1977, Manny married the love of his life, Rose Ann Rodriguez, she survives along with his son, Roberto (Megan) Gonzalez; a grandson, Coltin Matthew Gonzalez; brothers & sisters, Daniel (Gloria) Gonzalez, Elma (Havari) Carrasco, Eloy Gonzalez, Johnny (Vivian) Gonzalez.

Manuel was born on a farm and grew up without his father around. Even at a young age, he stepped up to help his mother raise his siblings-and, in many ways, himself. From early on, he embodied a spirit of generosity that would define his life.

He loved giving back to his community, whether through volunteering with Meals on Wheels or serving as a VIP (Volunteer in Police Service). He had a deep respect for hard work and always made a point to tip not just his servers at restaurants, but also those bussing tables-because to him, everyone deserved to feel seen and appreciated.

But generosity was only one part of who Manny was. He had a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh. His quick wit and lighthearted jokes could brighten anyone's day.

Manny also had a passion for bartending, spending time outdoors, and cheering on Notre Dame. He was an avid viewer of Fox News and took pride in his gun collection.

Above all, Manny was devoted to his family. He was a loving father, husband, grandfather, and a loyal friend. His presence, laughter, and unwavering kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 29, 2025 at the Cathedral of St. Matthew, 1701 Miami St., South Bend, with visitation to begin at 11:00 am in the church prior to the mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. St. Joseph Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Donations in honor of Manuel Ramirez Gonzalez may be made out to Meals on Wheels.
