Manuel Trevino Gracia Jr (Mijo), 56, of Texas City, TX, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, surrounded by family.
Manuel was born on May 10,1968 to Manuel Trevino Gracia Sr & Maria Julia Gutierrez in Galveston, TX. Manuel graduated from Galveston Ball High in 1986 & went on to work in many different fields throughout his lifetime until he found his lasting career as a plumber with Local Union 68.
Manuel always lived life to the fullest. He was always a hard worker and an exceptional provider for his family. His hobbies attested to his dynamic and full of life personality and lifestyle. He was a fitness devotee, an avid gun collector, and hunter much of his life. He enjoyed taking trips out of town to wherever his corvette would lead him to. Through it all, Manuel was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan his entire life. Throughout his children's life he was "THE COACH". The coach that taught and impacted many kids in the softball and baseball world for many years. For the last 40 years he was a staple in the Softball community and will always continue to be. There will never be another like him. Softball was much of his life. He was able to show off his talents and outplay all on that diamond. He built countless relationships with many through softball that made a forever lasting impact on his life and others. He was the jokester, the one outrunning others even half his age, the "clean up" batter that you could always count on to come through. Manuel was the friend and Dad that you could always count on. He was a fighter, the hard worker and took pride in being our very own MacGyver. Through his tough skin he had the biggest heart for his friends and family. There was nothing more that made him the happiest than spending time and teaching his grandchildren new things.
Manuel was preceded in death by his father, mother, grandparents, and granddaughter, Madalyn Squier.
He is survived by Kimberly Gracia; daughter, Megan Gracia; sons, Manuel (Trey) Trevino Gracia III (Demmsi) and Joseph; grandchildren, Harper, Hadley, Hensley, Stetson, Sophia, Natalie, and Gizelle; he was a beloved brother to Victor Gracia (Monica); and sister, Martha Trevino; nephews, Jonathan, Brandon, Marcelo, and Franco; niece, Lania; and numerous other cousins, family members, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 5:00pm to 6:00pm at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City, TX 77591. Manuel's Celebration of Life Service will follow at 6:00pm.
The family would also like to acknowledge and express appreciation to the many visitors who comforted him in his final days and throughout his health care journey. We would like to express our gratitude to his healthcare team at UTMB Oncology and Radiology, and the Unity Hospice team for the extraordinary care given.
