Manuel Plavin Obituary

Upon graduation he entered the family business, the New England Furniture Company, where he became Treasurer, then President. The company had six stores throughout the state of Maine as well as a commercial contract division.
He was involved in the Lewiston - Auburn community as a member of Rotary International, The Kora Temple (for over 73 years), and served as President of Beth Jacob Synagogue and their Hebrew School.
An avid golfer, he was president of Martindale Golf Club and the men's club of the Falmouth Country Club. An excellent skier from his days at Hebron Academy, he enjoyed the sport well into his 80s.
In 1952 he married Marcia Forin. They built their home in Auburn, Maine and raised three sons. In 1999 they purchased a retirement home in West Palm Beach FL, spending summers in Maine and winters in Florida where they enjoyed playing golf.
Manny was a big band jazz enthusiast, having played both saxophone and clarinet. On his retirement he taught about jazz at the Palm Beach Community College and the Jewish Community Center of Boynton Beach, FL.
He belonged to the Tuesday Club; a discussion group concerned with world affairs that met every week.
He leaves his wife Marcia, sons James (deceased), Clifford and Gary, 2 Grandsons, and 3 Great Grand Children.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, October 22 at 11 am at Temple Shalom, 74 Bradman St., Auburn, Maine.
