A Life Well-Lived, A Legacy Remembered
Deacon Marc Phillip Main (66) was born on June 29, 1959, and entered the gates of Heaven on September 2, 2025.
Born in Denver, Colorado to Phillip and Alix Main, Marc was the oldest of 7children.
He served as a Bioenvironmental Engineer with the United States Air Force from 1978-2000. He received the Meritorious Service Medal, AF Commendation Medal with 3 devices, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the AF Outstanding Unit Award with Valor with 5 Devices. During his time in the US Air Force he met the love of his life Jeri Main. Their immediate connection was undeniable and within 3months of dating they became husband and wife. Although their courtship was brief, 40 years later their love remained.
He moved to Abilene Texas in 2000 and worked as an HR Assistant to the Abilene Reporter News, Store Manager at our local Dollar General, CRE Manager at St. Francis Catholic Church, and Manager at the Southwest Convenience Store. His biggest legacy comes from his final employment with St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store where he worked as the manager for 11 years.
Marc heard the spiritual calling and was Ordained as a Deacon on June 5, 2010. He was welcomed to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church where he served their congregation for 25 years. During this time Marc encountered many people who enjoyed listening to his message, his jokes and his Denver Broncos Football Team. Marc served as a Knight of Columbus Council #14050 and was also a Board Member of Pregnancy Resources here in Abilene. Both Marc and Jeri were a pillar of the church that can never be replaced. Their servant hearts touched the lives of so many youth, adults and elders that we know their memory will always continue.
Marc is preceded in death by his parents Philip and Alix Main and his loving wife Jeri Main.
He is survived by his siblings, Mia Dobbs (John), Leni Arnett (Bernard), John Michael Main (Robin), Katya Jorgernsen, Valerie Dye (Ed), Mathew Henry Main (Laura). 13 nieces, 6 nephews, 1 great nephew Luka and a great niece Ivy.
Although Marc did not have any biological children, he was blessed with many "adoptive" children through the church with his selflessness and love.
Wake Service will be held on September 8th at North's Funeral Home from 6m-7pm, a rosary will follow.
Services will be on September 9th at 11am at St. Francis Catholic Church,
Burial to follow at the Veterans Cemetery in Abilene.
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. -Jeremiah 29:11
