Marc was born on December 23, 1979, in
McAlester, Oklahoma. Marc was the oldest of three sons born to Frankie Ray and Traci (Nail) McMurtrey.

He loved living in the country, exploring the woods, and learning about nature, animals, and gardening from his family's generational knowledge. Marc was an engaging child with a natural ability to make others smile. He had a wonderful outgoing personality, loved to be around people sharing stories while enjoying life.
As Marc grew, he enjoyed playing summer baseball, fishing and especially hunting at "THE CABIN." He enjoyed going to the horse races with his Papa Frankie and Uncle Ed and had a racehorse named "Marc McCormick" He loved working on and learning about old cars, Pa's backhoes, and heavy equipment. Marc was an animal lover, especially dogs, and had an uncanny ability to pick a good dog and train them well. An adventurous boy who liked to perform bike and skateboard tricks. He attended Hartshorne Public schools where he played the trumpet and the oboe in the band and was a member of the miner's football and baseball teams. Marc graduated from Hartshorne High School in 1998.e
Marc had a terrible car accident the summer after graduating. After multiple surgeries and therapy, he eventually made a full recovery and began walking again.
Marc ventured out to Bakersfield, California where he worked as a pipefitter learning the ins and outs of that profession. Marc eventually saved enough to purchase the truck of his dreams then headed back to Oklahoma.
Shortly after Marc' return he meets the love of his life, Leslie Daniels.
Leslie and Marc built a life together with a strong commitment to each other, remaining each other's best friend throughout their life together. Marc and Leslie completed each other and made each other stronger. Marc was a devoted father who adored his children. He and Leslie raised strong, loving, and happy children.
Marc prioritized his wife Leslie and their children's happiness more than anything else. He instilled a sense of kindness, integrity, and generosity in his children. His focus was on improving his children's lives. Each day was planned around what Allsion, Brighton, Lew, and Min needed.
Marc loved working with his hands and his head. He collaborated with Uncle Brian on various projects and always enjoyed working by his side. Marc loved gardening and cooking. He is known for his humor and dedication to his family.
Sadly, Marc's health began to fail. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer Marc fought with all he had, submitting himself to the strongest chemotherapy OU's medical team would allow. His young family stayed strong and supported him through this very tough battle.
His family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the OU Medical Center Team, Stephenson Cancer Center Physicians and personnel, McAlester Regional Health Center Emergency Room and ICU Staff, The Choctaw Nation Health Clinic and pharmacy for the compassionate care and support they provided during his illness.
