Marcelo V. Uriegas, Jr. entered eternal rest on January 1, 2026, at the age of 78. He was born on April 23, 1947, to Marcelo C. and Adela (Viagran) Uriegas.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Yolanda, his parents, and his brothers, Joe, Freddie, and Roy Uriegas.
Marcelo leaves behind to cherish his memory his sons and daughters-in-law, Ruben and Veronica Uriegas, and Marcelo and Jackie Uriegas; his grandchildren, Mercedes, Ruben Jr., Gabriela, and Miranda; his brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Irene Uriegas, and Roger and Lupe Uriegas; as well as numerous other loving family members and friends.
Marcelo found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved watching sports, especially football and baseball, and cheering on his favorite teams. He enjoyed listening to Tejano music, which often filled his home with comfort and familiarity. In his younger years, Marcelo loved being outdoors, working with his hands and spending countless hours working on cars, something he took great pride in. Marcelo was also a dedicated and hardworking man who spent 33 years working at Kelly Air Force Base, followed by 13 years with Standard Aero, where his strong work ethic and commitment were evident throughout his career. He cherished time spent in the backyard with barbecues and gatherings, where family and friends came together to laugh, eat, and celebrate. Marcelo also loved to dance, especially to Tejano music, often sharing those special moments with his wonderful wife, Yolanda. Above all, Marcelo treasured every moment spent with his family, creating memories filled with laughter, conversation, and love that will forever remain in their hearts.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 6:45 p.m., at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026, for a 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Jose Burial Park, where he will be laid to rest beside his beloved Yolanda.
