Marcia K Patro

Marcia K. Patro, 73, of Newton, Iowa, passed away on September 27, 2025, at Accura Healthcare in Newton.

She was born on July 20, 1952, in Newton, Iowa, to Donald K. and Grace M. (Bell) Rexroat. Marcia graduated from Newton High School and went on to attend Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny for two years. She later earned her LPN certification from Anoka Technical College in Anoka, Iowa, and an associate's degree from the Newton DMACC campus.

Marcia dedicated her career to caring for others, working as a nurse in various nursing homes throughout the years. She was a devoted member of Christian Life Church in Newton, where she served for many years in youth ministry. She loved sharing her music by playing the accordion and singing, and she found joy in crafting. One of her most meaningful projects was making head coverings for cancer patients.

Those left to honor her memory include her brothers, Merwin "Merv" Rexroat and Carrol (Sharolyn) Wheatcraft; her special friend Tanya Dodson; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband James Palmer Sr. and son, James Palmer Jr.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to a charity or organization of the donor's choice and may be brought to the service or left at Pence-Reese Funeral Home.
