Arlene Lucille Boyer, 88, of Newton, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Rose Haven Nursing Home in Marengo, Iowa.
Arlene was born on March 28, 1937, in Newton, the daughter of Lewis Henry Dammeier and Grace Irene (Walker) Dammeier. She attended Palo Alto #4 Country School, Newton Junior High, and graduated from Newton Senior High School in 1955. A lifelong resident of Newton, Arlene began working for GTE Telephone Company while still in high school and dedicated more than 50 years of service there.
On December 16, 1975, she was united in marriage to Ray Boyer at First United Methodist Church in Newton. She was a devoted member of Foursquare Gospel Church and found great joy in her faith, her family, and her church community.
Arlene loved reading any book she could find, cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes-especially during the Hayden Fry years-and listening to Kenny Rogers. She also enjoyed bowling and spent many years in local leagues. She often attended Bible study groups at church and loved listening to gospel music.
She will be remembered for her kind heart, steadfast faith, and the love she shared with those around her. Arlene poured out her love for children through her work at the YMCA and years of babysitting in her home. She also served faithfully for the church's nursery ministry.
Those left to remember Arlene are her sons, Craig Adams of Grinnell and Brad (Gina) Adams of Newton; daughters, Cynthia (Ron) Corbett of Marengo, Traci Martin of Colorado, Wendy McGuire of Johnston, and Mendy (Tim) Ward of Ankeny; a brother, Murry (Diane) Dammeier; her 14 grandchildren, Angela (Jason) Condon, Lindsay (Blake) Boecker, Shannon (Jimmy) Hulbert, Amanda Adams (Seth Griggs), Christopher Adams, Peyton Martin, Bryce McGuire, Harrison McGuire, Kenady Ward, Timothy Ward, Trina Capps, Whitney Rivet, Samantha (Jeremy) Hutchings, and Ron J. (Carrie) Corbett; 23 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, and many more nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; parents, Lewis and Grace; sons, Daryl and Dean Boyer; daughter, Debbie Rivet; granddaughters, Denise Hayden and Anita McGovern; great-grandsons, Coby Corbett and Trenton Capps; brother, Derald Dammeier; sisters, Vera Boles, Merita Dammeier, Hilma McKinney, Marceda Romick, Roma Mosher, and Luella Bragg.
There will be a visitation with the family on Thursday, October 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Memorial services for Arlene will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Foursquare Gospel Church in Newton. Burial will be held following the service at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Newton, and following the burial, the family will host a luncheon at the Tribute Center, next to Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton.
