It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Andrew "Andy" Dannen, who departed this world on September 17, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on November 22, 1954, in Des Moines, Iowa, Andy was the cherished son of Glenn Dale and Mary Ann (Meachan) Dannen, and he never missed a chance to remind us all of the importance of family-and a good road trip!
After graduating from Newton Senior High School in 1973, Andy embarked on an adventure that took him across the highways and byways of America as he drove doubles for UPS. With 41 years of service under his belt, he mastered the art of delivering packages and having fun. On February 28, 1975, he married the love of his life, Teresa "Terry" Morris, in a ceremony that was almost as exciting as his love for fast cars and motorcycles. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, love, and the occasional gopher hunt alongside their grandkids, proving that adventure never truly ends.
Andy is survived by his beloved Terry, daughter, Amy Dannen (Steve) Wadstrom, son, Ryan (Shannon) Dannen, and a grand parade of six grandchildren, Bennett Wadstrom, Josie Wadstrom, Taryn Wadstrom, Courtney Jenkins, Alex Jenkins, Shane Jenkins and three great-grandchildren who will forever carry his legacy of joy and mischief. He also leaves behind his sisters, Susan Dannen Hoffert and Judy (Eric) Balbiani, a brother-in-law, William Morris, and an extended family of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Mark Hoffert, Andy's laughter will echo in the hearts of all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Pence Reese Funeral Home in Newton, where friends are invited to gather and share stories from 1:00 p.m. until the service begins. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Newton FFA, where Andy's spirit of adventure and love for the land will live on. Rest easy, Andy. May your journeys be filled with open roads, fast cars, and endless laughter.
