Patricia Anita Danley, 89, of Newton, Iowa, passed away on October 31, 2025, at Park Centre in Newton.
Pat was born on May 30, 1936, in Reydon, England, to Stanley Chaston and Doreen Muriel (Spillings) Townsend. She was raised in Southwold, Suffolk, England, where she graduated from high school and met the love of her life, R. Dean Danley, who was serving overseas during World War II. On May 8, 1956, Pat and Dean were married at St. Edmonds Church in Southwold.
In December of 1958, Pat moved to the United States to join Dean as he continued his military service. After his discharge in 1967, they settled in Newton, where they built a loving home together and raised their daughter, Linda.
Pat devoted herself to caring for her family, a role she cherished deeply. She also worked for a time as a registered bridal consultant. Pat loved gardening, scrapbooking, card making, walking, knitting, reading, and camping with Dean.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Linda Lynam of Newton; brothers, Patrick (Francis) Townsend of England and Peter (Judy) Townsend of Canada; sister, Pauline Smith of England; grandchildren, Shane Grave-Haines, Toby Grave, and Summer (Derek) Meyer; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dean; brothers, Philip and Paul Townsend; and sisters, Pru Humphries and Penny Helmer.
A private funeral service will be held, and Pat will be laid to rest beside Dean at Sugar Grove Cemetery in rural Newton. Memorials may be made in her name to The Salvation Army.
