Margaret Mary “Peggy” Cafferty of Quincy, passed away on Monday, November 11th, 2024. She was 84.
She was born in Sargura, Curry, Co. Sligo, Ireland to Mary (Roddy) and James Cafferty. She was raised in Ireland and emigrated to the U.S. in 1959. In addition to her initial employments, she took on further education which eventually led her to secure employment in the State Street Bank. There she worked for over 20 years before retiring from banking. She went on to secure a position with MassHealth where she would work until retiring. While working for MassHealth, Peggy became renowned in the company for her warm and welcoming presence in the office. She was well liked by her coworkers and went above and beyond to help anyone that needed it. On her retirement she received numerous accolades for her steadfast devotion to her clients and the underserved community.
Peggy had a passion for helping others and liked to volunteer her time with PanMass, a bike-a-thon that raised money for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. She very much enjoyed time spent with family and made many trips home to her family in Ireland. Her travels also took her to join her many friends in New York, Philadelphia, Florida, Maine and Cape Cod.
While Peggy was a very private person, she was strong willed and had high standards for herself and those around her. Peggy was admired for her innate love, honesty and kindness. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Devoted sister to her late infant twin, Ella-Christine Cafferty, her brother, the late John Cafferty, Bridget Dowd and her late husband Thomas of Melrose, Eileen Rocha of Hingham, James Cafferty of Curry, Co. Sligo, Ireland, Padraic Cafferty and his wife Patricia of Dublin, and sister-in-law Monica, of Wicklow, Ireland.
