Margaret "Peg" Dolan of Pine City passed away November 23, 2025, at Northern Pines Assisted Living in Pine City, Minnesota at the age of 93. The day of her passing is celebrated as the Solemnity of Christ the King Sunday; the last Sunday in the liturgical year of the Catholic Faith.
Margaret Nell Marie Howlett was born September 24, 1932 to Edward and Fern (Mitchell) Howlett in St. Paul, Minnesota.
In 1953, Peg married her high school sweetheart, Don Dolan. She became an Army wife in Kansas and Illinois until Don’s honorable discharge in 1955. Through the years the family grew with the addition of their four children. She was a fantastic homemaker and made sure everyone’s needs were met.
In 1990, she and Don retired to their lake home in Pine City where they entertained and celebrated family and friends over the years. When Don’s health was failing and he needed nursing care, Peg left her home by the lake and moved into Pine City to be closer and more available for Don. She enjoyed her home in town and continued to live there after Don’s passing in 2019. The loss of her husband of 66 years took a toll on her, but she still drove a little, attended church services and enjoyed visiting her friends. Peg managed to travel south in the winter just as she and Don did for so many years. Peg moved to assisted living in her later years. She was a lady in every aspect, soft-spoken, a true conversationalist, always looked impeccable, and full of love and compassion.
Peg was a woman of unwavering faith, a heart full of love, the utmost integrity. She had numerous friends throughout her fruitful life. She will be dearly missed.
Margaret is survived by her four children Michael (Susanne) Dolan of White Bear Township, Patrice (Dale) Weiler of Isle, Timothy (Leilani) Dolan of San Diego, California, Joe (Nhan) Dolan of Braham; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother Jerry Howlett of Waco, Texas; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Cecilia Howlett; husband Donald Dolan; brothers Jack Howlett, Dick Howlett, and Don Howlett.
Fr. Thomas Galarneault will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial for Peg: 11 AM; Thursday (12/4) at Immaculate Conception Church of Pine City with a time of visitation and reviewal one hour prior to the Mass in the St. Anthony Commons area of the church. There will also be a visitation and reviewal planned from 5:00-8:00 PM; Wednesday evening (12/3) with a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM at the Swanson Funeral Chapel of Pine City.
Interment will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery of Pine City. Lunch will follow Peg's burial in the church lower level.
