Arla Adele Kuss of Pine City, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at her home on Lake Pokegama on the morning of November 16, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Arla was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, remembered for her gentle spirit and unwavering support to all who knew her.
Born on February 20, 1934 to Clarence and Selma (Ziegenhaugen) Moore in Minneapolis, and raised in Columbia Heights, Arla built a life centered around family, resilience, and kindness. She partnered with her husband, Daune “Don” Kuss, in nurturing their family and in supporting their community, including many years alongside Daune as co-owner of Don & John’s Skelly service station in Columbia Heights. She worked and retired from Land O Lakes in Arden Hills, Minnesota.
In 1995, Arla and Daune retired to Pine City, where together they enjoyed the tranquil beauty of Lake Pokegama, hosting cherished family gatherings, holiday celebrations, and memorable deer hunting events. Arla found joy in nurturing her home, welcoming guests, and sharing laughter with friends and loved ones. She also participated in the community choir singing for many community events over the years.
Arla is survived by her children: Duane (Jermayne) Kuss, Lori Smith, Todd (Kim) Kuss, and Jerry (Janice) Kuss; her ten grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Selma Moore; beloved husband Daune; and siblings.
Funeral services for Arla: 11 AM; Saturday (11/22) at Zion Lutheran Church in Pine City with a time of visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Family, friends, and community members are welcome to attend and honor Arla’s legacy. A private interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Arla’s faith and strength will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
