Margaret "Peggy" Davis Frischmann, 87, of Newtown, Pennsylvania, passed away on June 11, 2025.
Peggy was born on September 25, 1937 to William Galbreath Davis and (Willa) Virginia Greer Davis in Cardiff, Maryland in Harford County. She was an only child, but grew up surrounded by family in the close-knit community where her parents managed an 80-acre dairy farm. After Peggy graduated from North Harford High School in 1955, she went on to study music at Maryville College in Tennessee. After graduating with a BA in organ music, she went on to earn a master's degree in this field at Westminster College in Princeton, New Jersey while simultaneously beginning her career as a church musician.
Peggy moved to Bucks County, Pennsylvania with her young family in 1971 where she lived–first in Washington's Crossing, later Ivyland, and ultimately Newtown–for the rest of her life. In 1975 she became the Director of Music at the rapidly-growing Lutheran Church of God's Love in Newtown, where she stayed for 36 years. In addition to her busy roles as organist, church choir director, and a loving, active mom of three, she was the beloved private piano and voice teacher to scores of students over the years.
At age 65, Peggy followed the calling she had long felt in her heart, but had so far deferred, and attended the seminary. She earned her Master of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary of Philadelphia (now United Lutheran Seminary) and was ordained by the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America in 2008. She received the call at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Feasterville, Pennsylvania, where she was associate and then Senior Pastor from 2008 until her retirement in 2019. Peggy is predeceased by her parents, Bill and Virginia Davis and her paternal aunt Mary Isabella Davis who lived with the family. She is survived by her three children, Chip Galbreath Frischmann; Lieselotte "Liesl" Frischmann Groberg (David); Gretchen Greer Flanagan (Gary), and her grandchildren, Henry "Hank" Davis Groberg; Sadie Margret Groberg; Megan Helen Flanagan; and Cassidy Greer Flanagan.
Services will be held at Lutheran Church of God's Love of Newtown, PA on June 18, 2025 at 11:00 am following family visitation at 10:00 am. A luncheon reception at the church will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one of the following organizations that Peggy supported in her lifetime: Lutheran Church of God's Love in Newtown (godslovenewtown.org); On Eagle's Wings (oneagleswings.ca); or 4-H (4-h.org/).
