Margaret Ann Gabrion, age 93, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, in Lansing, Michigan. Born on December 26, 1931, in Kalamazoo, she was the beloved daughter of the late Carl and Frances (Louwaert) Powers.

After graduating from St. Augustine High School in 1949, Margaret dedicated herself to a fulfilling 20-year career with the State of Michigan as a Social Services Clerk.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husbands, Gerald I. Gabrion, William E. Barber, and John K. Sherrill; her parents, Carl and Frances; her daughter, Sally Sherrill; her siblings, Charles and Robert Powers, Shirley Slusser, and Charlene Billard; and her granddaughter, Elizabeth (Lankford) Merrifield.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Bailey, Robin (Marty) Lankford, William Barber, and Robert Barber; her grandchildren, John, Amy, Tim, Marsha, J.D., Margaret, and Shay; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her sister, Sandra (John) Fleckenstein.

A devout Catholic, Margaret was an active member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church in DeWitt, where her faith was a steady part of her life.

Margaret lived life with zest and a strong sense of independence. She loved traveling in her RV, spending time at her cottage in Charlevoix, and doting on her cherished dogs. She had a passion for music and home décor, and in her earlier years, enjoyed her involvement with the Knights of Columbus alongside her husband Gerald.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 807 Saint Mary's Blvd., Charlotte, MI, with Rev. Fr. Dwight Ezop and Rev. Fr. John Fleckenstein officiating. The Rite of Christian Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at the church, prior to the service.
