Margaret (Marge) Mary Gaebel passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family on December 5, 2024, at the age of 84. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who was always there to provide love and support when most needed to both family and friends. She will be sorely missed.
Marge was born on June 30, 1940, in Varina, Iowa. Soon after she moved with her parents, Bernard and Martha Niehaus, to Sauk Centre, Minnesota. There she grew up on a small farm and graduated from Sauk Centre High School.
She married Harold Gaebel in September 1962. In 1967, they moved to Alexandria and raised 4 children. She married LeRoy Johnson in April 2000. She was a long-time employee of 3M where she retired in 2002.
Marge found joy in spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed board games, cards, and puzzles. She was strong in her faith, with a kind and generous heart in her efforts to help others.
Marge is preceded in death by her parents, former husbands, sister Dorthy Ecklund, grandchildren Aaron Gaebel and Kayla Gaebel and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her children Jim (Cheryl) Gaebel, Karen Gaebel, Dave (Dori) Gaebel, Sheryl (Dalen) Kittelson. Sister Germaine Tharaldson. Grandchildren: Shawn (Maleah) Gaebel, Kelly Gaebel, Jordan Kittelson, Logan (Jaeli) Kittelson, Mason Kittelson, Sierra Kittelson, Josh Gaebel, Nicole Gaebel, Tyler Gaebel, Megan (Dustin) Martin, Katelyn Maddox, Lucas Maddox, Jake Wolf and 6 great-grandchildren. Stepchildren Clark (Pam) Johnson, Grant (Wendy) Johnson, Dianne (Shelden) Rosberg, and Kay Cather. Step-grandchildren: Sarah, Samantha, Seth, William, Alissa, Jonathan, and Courtney.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 11 AM at the Church of St. Mary's in Alexandria.
The visitation is one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
