Margaret Eggleston Gambill, 91, of Milo, Iowa, formerly of Athens, Texas, passed away August 16, 2025. She was born January 7, 1934, in Arkansas City, Kansas to John and Birdie (Inmin) Gregory. She graduated high school in 1952 and went on to earn her associates degree. Margaret worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant for many years. Margaret was married to Kenneth Eggleston on April 2, 1956, and this union was blessed with eight children: Sharon, Warren, Debra, Dale, Diana, Clayton, Royce, and Jeffrey. Margaret loved being a mom and grandma. She enjoyed being involved in all the activities her children and grandchildren participated in.
Margaret had a deep faith and also enjoyed traveling. In later years she enjoyed watching westerns and crocheting.
Survivors include her children: Dale Eggleston, Diana (Mike) Marrow, Clayton (Rita) Eggleston, Royce (Lizette) Eggleston, and Jeffrey (Jessica) Eggleston; sons-in-law: Johnny Hays and Dwayne Derr; and many many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; along with numerous relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents: John and Birdie Gregory; children: Sharon Hayes, Warren Eggleston, and Debra Derr; daughter-in-law, Cindy Eggleston; and brothers: Gerald, Robert, Don, and Dean.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Autry's Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens, Texas. Interment will be at the Oak Lawn Memorial Cemetery following the service. Memorials may be made in care of Margaret's family.
