Margaret Ann Glaspie, age 72, was born on May 05, 1952, in Sabine Parish to James Henry and Juanita Coburn Glaspie. She passed away on October 13, 2024, at the Woodlands Healthcare Center in Leesville, LA. There will be visitation for family and friends at Prewitt's Chapel Baptist Church in Hornbeck, La on October 16, 2024, at 9:30, followed by the going home service at 10:30. Burial will follow at Florien Cemetery. Rev Terry Ward and Rev Nick Hilton will officiate the services under the direction of Labby Funeral Home.
Margaret was a 1970 graduate of Florien High School. She was employed by Valley Electric for 30+ years until her retirement. She was a proud member of the Anacoco Lions Club, which helps support the Louisiana Lions Camp for Crippled Children. Christmas was her favorite holiday. She had the gift of finding the perfect present for everyone on her list, and she enjoyed the whole experience.
Margaret had a passion for collecting stray and orphaned animals. She spent many hours making sure all their individual needs were met, and no one can ever say she denied them of anything.
She leaves behind her son Van Martin and wife Carol, Leesville, LA; Sister Carolyn Hardy and husband AJ, Anacoco, LA; Sister-in-laws (like sisters) Linda Rae Glaspie and Linda Lou Glaspie both of Hornbeck, LA; Grandchildren Matthew Dixon and wife Sarah, Zionsville, IN and Eric Dixon, Waynesboro, VA; Great Grandchildren Riley, Isabella, Levi, Parker and Donald; Longtime friend Elizabeth Longino and Caregiver/Friend Angie LeBlanc.
She was preceded in death by her parents, longtime companion Roger Smart and her two brothers Allen Glaspie and Charles Glaspie.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rickey Allen Glaspie, David Glaspie, Tony Coburn, Jonathan Hyatt, Robert Hyatt and Raymond Cecil. Honorary pallbearer is Gerald Behan.
