It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Margaret (Peggy) Griffin, 88, on October 2nd, 2025. Peggy was born to Frank and Margaret Edwards on January 12th, 1937, in Brooklyn, New York. She graduated from Bay Ridge School. She married James Griffin and had two sons, James and Stephen. Peggy was the eldest of eight children and her siblings meant the world to her. After the passing of her mother at a young age, Peggy helped raise the younger siblings while caring for her own children. Peggy worked for Off-Track Betting (OTB) for over twenty-five years before retiring in 1999. Peggy was blessed with three grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan and James and an even greater blessing were her two great granddaughters, Henley and Kennedy. St. Patrick's Day was her favorite holiday. She went to the St. Patrick's Day parade in New York City with her brothers every year and then cooked ten corned beef and cabbage dinners for everyone who wanted to come by and join the festivities. She also enjoyed going to Atlantic City with her best friend Aggie and her brother Bobby. She didn't really gamble but just liked spending time with family and friends. Peggy was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. Margaret's life was defined by her unwavering love for her family and the countless memories she created with those she cherished most. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at her wake on Thursday, October 9, from 2:00-5:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM at John Vincent Scalia Funeral Home 28 Eltingville Blvd., Staten Island, NY 10312 A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 10th at 10am, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church 5371 Amboy Road, Staten Island New York 10312. Followed by interment at Resurrection Cemetery. 361 Sharrott Ave Staten Island, NY 10309 Margaret will be remembered always for her warmth, strength, and love that will continue to live on in her family.
