Margaret Callis "Peggy" Haladay

Margaret "Peggy" Haladay passed away quietly on February 25, 2026. Margaret was born in Washington, DC on January 19, 1946, to Sallie and William Callis. She grew up in Herndon, Virginia and attended school in Virginia. Margaret attended and graduated on a scholarship from Strayer University and went on to work for several trust attorneys as a Legal Assistant. She also graduated from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and was a registered gemologist. Other schooling includes career life planning from University of Virginia and Computer Systems Application through the University of Southern California. Some of her hobbies were gourmet cooking, cake decorating, traveling, antique shopping. Margaret was an avid reader of a wide variety of subject matter. Margaret was loved by all and she loved from her heart and made us all feel special. She was always there for you when you needed her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sallie and William Callis, three brothers Earl Simmons, Walter Simmons, Winfred Callis and one sister, Irene Wagness. Margaret is survived by her husband of 39 years Martin and a brother William Callis and several nieces and nephews: James Wright/Crystal, Megan Quinn/Eric, Sean Wright, Craig Mikalski/Chris, Crystal Ratliff/Dale, Warren Simmons/Angela, Laura Burton/Greg, David Simmons/Julie and Debbie Gumpman/Joseph.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 from 10am to 12pm at the Roy W. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Rd., Laytonsville, MD 20882.
