Margaret Harruff Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home - LaRue on Aug. 14, 2024.
Margaret Genevieve Harruff, 96 of Perrysburg, passed peacefully Sunday morning August 11, 2024 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.
She was born July 16, 1928 in New Bloomington to the late Gomer and Genevieve (Sylvester) Johnson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Henry Harruff, they were married September 1, 1951 in New Bloomington at the Johnson family Homestead and he died October 6, 2018. Also preceding her were a brother, James Johnson, brother-in-law, Mel Chapman and a sister-in-law, Sharon Harruff.
Margaret grew up with her brother, James, on the family dairy farm and helped deliver milk to many New Bloomington residents.
After high school, she worked to obtain her bachelors degree from Ohio Wesleyan University.
Margaret's career started as a home demonstration agent at the Wood County courthouse in Bowling Green, Ohio. In the early 1960s, she started her teaching career in Home Economics at Eastwood High School. She then had the opportunity to teach Home Economics in Toledo at McTigue Junior High and Rogers High School, retiring in 1984.
Margaret's retirement years were filled with the joy of her family. She organized many family reunions that are fondly remembered. Margaret and George also liked to travel and especially enjoyed the trips with their grandchildren.
Even though there is an enormous void left in the hearts of her family, it is comforting to know she is reunited with her husband who was the love of her life.
Surviving are her children, Lanny (Judi) Harruff of Luckey and Lora (John) Shortridge of Perrysburg
Grandchildren: Megan (Phil) Weiss of Bellbrook and Matthew Shortridge of Perrysburg
Sisters-in-law, Jean Johnson and Martha Chapman both of Marion.
Brothers-in-law, Norman (Mary Schwaderer) Harruff of Cincinnati and Dwight (Sally) Harruff of Angola, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held Friday August 16, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue, Pastor Kathy Herr will officiate. Burial will follow in the Agosta Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am at the funeral home in LaRue.
