Margaret (Marge) Ann Harting, age 88, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother passed away peacefully with family beside her on June 1st.
Born February 3, 1937, in Washington, D.C., Marge was the 4th of 5 children born to Robert Emmett Rhodes and Elizabeth Frances Rhodes. She grew up in the D.C. area, attending Saint Aloysius School through her elementary years. She was a lover of music and dancing. As a young girl, she learned to play the steel guitar and enjoyed performing for her dad's company parties. She also took up tap and ballet dancing. During her high school years, she attended the Immaculate Conception Academy and graduated on June 7, 1955.
While growing up, Marge always wanted to be a nun. until she met and fell in love with Robert (Bob) Daniel Harting. On June 11, 1955, Marge married the love of her life. They were married for 49 years when Bob passed away in 2004. Almost half of those 49 years were spent traveling from base to base wherever the Army sent them. Marge embraced life as an "Army wife". She was an active member of the Officers' Wives Clubs and was active in church wherever they were stationed. When Bob retired from the military in 1979, they moved home to
Boise, Idaho. After being a devoted military wife and stay-at-home mom, Marge pursued a career as a credit manager, working for Lyle Pearson and Call Jewelers.
In the later years, Bob and Marge moved to Donnelly. While in Donnelly, they enjoyed outdoor adventures, such as cross-country skiing and many weekends in their camper while Bob was camp vet to the horses for Endurance Rides. In addition to their many adventures, one of the main highlights of their time in Donnelly was having the grandkids come to stay. Many special memories were created with Grandpa and Grandma in Donnelly.
After Bob's passing, Marge moved back to Boise and spent her time serving others, as she had done so much of her life. She became a dedicated member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, getting involved in ministry work there, helping others deal with grief and loss. She also volunteered at St Vincent de Paul and became a hospice volunteer. Marge was compassionate and went above and beyond in all she did. Her days were filled with service to others, book clubs, puzzles, and spending time with family and friends.
Marge was known for her laugh. No family gathering was complete without her laughter and a glass of wine or two. She will be deeply missed but her spirit will live on in our hearts. Each time we pour a glass of wine, we'll remember our precious Mama with a smile.
Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Daniel Harting, her parents, Robert and Elizabeth Rhodes, 2 brothers and 1 sister. Her radiant spirit is carried on by her children, Debbie Winslow (Mike) of Peoria, Arizona; Mike Harting (Lori) of Portland, Oregon; and Patrick Harting (Sheila) of Caldwell, Idaho; a sister, Maryellen (aka Perky) Kunz (Ed) of Arizona, 11 grandkids, 11 great grandkids and 3 great-great grandkids.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire teams of Copper Fall Hospice and Autumn Wind Assisted Living for their loving care of Marge and support of the family as well. We're so thankful to each of you.

"May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind always be at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields.
