Margaret Ann Hinshaw

Margaret Ann Hinshaw (nee McCaffrey) "Ann", age 97, a resident of Naperville, IL and formerly of Carillon in Plainfield, IL, and Northbrook, IL passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025. She was born on February 14, 1928, in Highland Park, IL to the late Leslie and Elizabeth McCaffrey (nee Mumper).
Ann is survived by her loving children, Mary (Jeff) Hotz and Greg (Lorie) Hinshaw; her cherished grandchildren, Jennifer (Jered) May, Stephanie (Nick) Godersky, Emily (Nick) Mika, and Quentin Hinshaw; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Jack Hinshaw in 2006; her parents; her sisters Gina (Tom) Johnson and Carol (Leslie) Barnes, her sisters-in-law Helen (George) Davis and Esther (Ray) Steffel and brothers-in-law, Roy Hinshaw, Lee (Millie) Hinshaw and Harold Hinshaw.
Ann graduated summa cum laude from Barat College in Lake Forest IL with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry. She worked as a chemist at Abbott Laboratory and taught high school chemistry at Regina Dominican High School in Wilmette, IL.
She was a faithful Catholic attending mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Church in Romeoville IL and later at St. Elizabeth Seton, St. Thomas the Apostle, SS. Peter & Paul Church and St. Raphael Church as her residency changed. Ann shared her time serving as a Eucharistic Minister for the homebound and assisted in local elementary schools with children who struggled with reading.
Ann enjoyed traveling, reading and gardening. She had a love of learning and enjoyed sharing her knowledge with others. However, her fondest memories were her times spent with family.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, 1:00-5:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill St, Naperville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 22, 10:30 AM at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Rd, Naperville. Interment to follow at SS. Peter Paul Cemetery, Naperville, IL
