Evelyn O'Malley Casey, loving mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, just a few days before her 97th birthday.

Born in Chicago, Evelyn, a ectionately known as Tykie to her family and friends, attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart School (now Woodlands Academy) in Lake Forest. She continued her education at Barat College in Lake Forest, where she earned her bachelor's degree. Tykie was teaching Speech and Drama at Sacred Heart when she met the love of her life, Richard Carlton Casey. Their early years together were spent overseas in Japan while he served there as a pilot in the US Air Force, and where their first two children were born. They later lived on both the East and West coasts where Richard was an investment banker.

Tykie had a great sense of fun and created beautiful homes for her family, in which she took pride, but she found her greatest joy in motherhood. When her youngest son, Michael, was born with Autism she became a tireless advocate for him, at a time when there was limited understanding of educational resources and curriculums for his condition. She also found time to pursue acting in plays and television commercials in New York and San Francisco.

Tykie's life was guided by a deep and unwavering faith. She is survived by her five children, Candida Marie Casey (Richard Beatty) Richard Carlton Casey Junior, Colleen Virginia Casey, Kevin Douglas Casey and Michael Channon Casey. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Kira, James and Cameron Casey, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Carlton Casey and her brothers, Edward and Thomas O'Malley.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Society of the Sacred Heart at https://rscj.org.
