Daniel Schmitz of Park City, IL, 57, passed away after a short illness on August 22, 2025. He was the beloved son of Ernest and Margaret.

Dan grew up in Northbrook and was a graduate of Loyola Academy and Oakton Community College. He had a life long love for music. He was an avid drummer, worked in several music stores and eventually ran his own. He spent the rest of his career driving a taxi during which he developed a long list of regular customers to whom he was as devoted as they were to him.

Dan had a sharp sense of humor and a ready laugh was generous with his time and an eager hugger. Dan loved family gatherings and meeting new people. After the first conversation he knew everything about you and left you feeling you'd made a good friend.

He was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Margaret and is survived by his brothers Michael and Mark, Mark's wife Allison and children Katherine and Will and numerous cousins.

Burial services will be held on Saturday, September 6 at 1 p.m. at Ascension Catholic Cemetery 1929 Buckley Rd. Libertyville, IL 60048

In lieu of flowers donations to Star Hospice, Gurnee, IL are appreciated. Funeral arrangements by McMurrough Funeral Chapel (847) 362-2626
