Margaret A. Hoerman (nee Berens), 96, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, just two days before her 97th birthday. A longtime resident of North Bergen, she made her home in Edison, New Jersey near family for the past fifteen years.

Born in Guttenberg, NJ, Margaret grew up in North Bergen and Palisades Park with her mother and stepfather, Adeline and Louis Oriente, and her brothers, Robert Berens and Louis Oriente. After graduating from a secretarial program at St. Mary's School in West New York, she worked a number of different jobs, with her last job at Hostess in Hoboken, packing up Twinkies on the packaging line. It was there that she met her husband, William Hoerman, a baker who would sometimes pick up extra shifts on the line. They married on April 24, 1955, and together raised four children: Mary Jean, William, Lois, and Richard.

Margaret may have been quiet, but she was full of love for her family. She found joy in life's simple pleasures - watching her favorite afternoon soap operas with a cup of tea, watching her Iris flowers grow in her backyard, trips to Atlantic City, working on puzzles with her family, and decorating for Christmas, her favorite time of year.

She was predeceased by her husband, William, in 2010; her son, William, in 2013; and her two brothers. Margaret is survived by her children Mary Jean (and Tim) Evanoff, Lois (and Robert) Kempa, and Richard (and Terry) Hoerman; her daughter-in-law Kimmy Hoerman; grandchildren - Raymond, Paul, Anthony, Stephen, Michelle, Courtney, Alex, and Matthew - and eight great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the wake service on Thursday October 16, 2025, 11:30am – 1:00pm at Di Chiara Funeral Home, 300 Main St., Lodi with a 12:30pm Chapel service. Interment to follow at Madonna Cemetery, 2070 Hoefleys Lane, Fort Lee, NJ.
