Stanley Edward Hoerman was born November 5, 1942, in Manhattan, KS. He passed away Monday, May 26, 2025 in Topeka, KS.
As a teenager, Stanley worked with his father in the house-moving business and learned the construction trade. Stanley joined the United States Marines in 1961 and went to boot camp at Camp Pendleton in San Diego. He was later stationed at Quantico, VA. After leaving the Marines, Stanley worked at the Goodyear plant in Topeka for a few years before returning to Manhattan. He worked as a carpenter for various construction companies and he also owned and managed rental properties in Manhattan. Stanley was a scuba diver and he owned the Ski & Scuba Dive Shop on S. Third Street.
In 1974 he married Rose Marie Dreiling at First Lutheran Church in Manhattan, KS. Rose Marie passed away in 2018.
Stanley ran for Manhattan City Commission in 2011. In 2016 he ran as the 66th District Republican candidate for the Kansas Legislature.
He was active in the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International and served as President of the local chapter.
He was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Helen Hoerman, his wife Rose Marie Hoerman, his brother Norman Hoerman and a sister in law Vicky Hoerman and two brothers in law, Lot Taylor and Jasper Vickroy.
He is survived by his brother Lowell Hoerman of Omaha, NE and his sisters Loraine Taylor of Woodward, OK, Elaine Mohr (Bob) of Manhattan, Joyce Brite of Manhattan, Connie Vickroy of San Francisco, CA, Nelda Hoerman of Goddard, KS, and Zelda Hoerman of Manhattan. He is also survived by eight nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and great- nephews.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 3 at 10:00 am Irvin Parkview Funeral Home, 1317 Poyntz Ave. in Manhattan, KS. A visitation will be held at Irvin Parkview Funeral Home on Monday, June 2 from 5pm-7pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stanley Hoerman Funeral Expenses.
