Margaret Dicochea Lara passed away on March 4, 2025, at the age of 81.
Margaret was born on May 2, 1943, in Los Banos, California, to Frances and Rafael Dicochea. In 1954, the family moved to Watsonville where Margaret attended Moreland Notre Dame School and later graduated from Mora Central High School in 1961. Upon graduation she attended Notre Dame College, eventually graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from California State University, Hayward.
Margaret dedicated 41 years of her life as a Clinical Lab Specialist at Watsonville Community Hospital, a position she loved and valued, having chosen the profession when she was 11 years old. A devout Catholic of St. Patrick's Parish, her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her everyday interactions and commitments. Her hobbies included spending time with her family and friends, reading, engaging in online gaming, bird watching, and following Golden State Warriors basketball.
Margaret is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Jesus Lara; children, David Lara and Sofia Rogado; daughter-in-law, Monica Lara; son–in–law, Kenneth Rogado; grandchildren, Zachary Rogado, Victor Lara, David Antonio Lara, and Samuel Rogado; and sister and brother – in – law, Rose and Larry Bader.
A memorial service and rosary will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, at Mehl's Colonial Chapel, 222 E. Lake Ave., Watsonville, CA. Visitation is from 3 pm – 6 pm, A Rosary will begin at 6 pm. A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 10 am at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 721 Main St., Watsonville, CA. A reception will follow at the Lara Residence, 855 Freedom Blvd., Watsonville, CA.
