Margaret Maxwell McClure
November 9, 1948 – February 22, 2024
Margaret Maxwell McClure, born on November 9, 1948, peacefully passed away in her sleep next to her husband and their loyal puppy, Penny, on February 22, 2024, at her home of 50 years in Houston, Texas. She was the beloved daughter of James Franklin Maxwell, Sr. and Sue Eubanks (Maxwell) Dart (Russell Dart).
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Melinda (Maxwell) Rodriguez, her infant twins, and her beloved puppy of 17 years, Pookie. Margaret was a strength and anchor to so many, including dear friends and colleagues. Her love was intensely shown through her persistent encouragement of her children and grandchildren to achieve their passions and goals. Her strong presence both personally and professionally will forever be felt and live on through those she cherished and who cherished her in return.
She is survived by her devoted husband of near 54 years, James Williams McClure Jr., who held her on the highest pedestal since the moment he met her. Margaret was a dedicated mother that would move worlds for her son, Shannon Marc McClure, and his wife, Xinia (Herrera) McClure, of Spring, Texas; as well as her daughter, Heather Lynn McClure Boland, and her love, Brady Brister, of Spring, Texas. She is survived by and found immense joy in the presence of her grandchildren: Emma Boland, Owen Boland, Ethan Boland, and Jocelyn McClure and her bonus grandchildren Teylor Herrera (Carol Herrera), Joshua Herrera and Savannah Brister.
Margaret is also survived by her sister, Sarah (Maxwell) Clark Konopik, and her husband Doug of Galveston, Texas; her mother's husband, Russell Dart of Pearland, Texas; her aunt, Lucile (Eubanks) Beasley and her husband Howard of Liverpool, Texas; her brother-in-law Humberto "Squeaky" Rodriguez; her sister-in-law Janice (McClure) Knight and her husband Kenneth of El Campo, Texas; along with her nephews Christopher Rodriguez, Stephen Clark, Kevin Knight, and nieces Angela (Rodriguez) Hackner, Liz (Clark) Jewett, Catherine Clark, and Kelley Knight. Margaret is survived also by many more relatives and friends.
Margaret and James were married in Alvin, Texas, followed by a reception at her grandmother's (Lucile Reed Eubanks) home, marking the beginning of their beautiful near 54-year-long marriage. They've spent every day of their marriage as best friend's and rarely left each other's side. She loved the favorite quote of her grandmother's "Three grand essentials to happiness in life are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for". Margaret and James found that happiness in life with each other and their family. Margaret, aside from her passion for law and her family, enjoyed watching major league sports. She uncommonly knew extensive stats, names and history of almost every major league athlete.
Margaret was an individual of great intellect and diligence. Her drive and passion to succeed, supported wholly by her husband, in her education, career and law practice brought her accomplishments that were very dear to her. This drive is shown in her favorite saying, 'Si vis pacem, para bellum' meaning "If you want peace, prepare for war " This saying profoundly spoke to her relentless drive through life. Margaret attended Ball High School in Galveston, Texas, before graduating from Alvin High School in Alvin, Texas. She worked at NASA early in her career during a memorable time of the first man landing on the moon. Following, she was a paralegal for near 20 years growing her passion for law. She furthered her education later in life by obtaining a bachelor's degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas, and later earning her Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law in May of 1993.
Margaret and her husband, James, took on the world and life together, including the opening of their law practice 31 years ago. Their dedication to their clients, to being meticulous, to guiding with transparency and compassion touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting and far-reaching impact on others. Margaret and James cherish all of the colleagues, peers, and many dear friends they have gained through their education and practice. In particular, Dariel Mckey, their Legal Assistant of over 18 years, that became a part of our family, their right hand and was so very dear to both Margaret and James.
Margaret leaves behind a full life of strength, courage, hope, love and generosity. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and strength will continue to surround those who were fortunate enough to have her in their lives.
Visitation will be held at Klein Funeral Home on Champions Forest Drive in Spring, Texas, on February 28, 2024, from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. Services to honor Margaret's life will be held at St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church on Stuebner Airline Road in Houston, Texas, on February 29, 2024, at 1:00 PM, followed by graveside at Klein Memorial Park in Tomball, Texas.
Pall bearers include: Owen Boland, Ethan Boland, Christopher Rodriguez, Stephen Clark, Jordan O'Brian, Teylor Herrera, and Joshua Herrera.
