Margaret Ann Singleton McNeill, 88, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

She was born May 20, 1937, in the Liberty Community of Forest, MS. While in high school, she worked at W.E. Walker store. After graduating from Forest High School in 1955, she worked at Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company, until she moved to Jackson to take secretarial classes at Draughon's Business College. She married Harold Summers McNeill on March 10, 1957, and had one daughter, Paula.

Margaret was a secretary at Jackson Public Schools in the Purchasing Department and later for Stribling Bryan Enterprises. She was a member of the Malabouchia chapter of the National Secretaries Association in 1973 and became vice president in 1975. She was active in women's Bible Study groups at Alta Woods Presbyterian Church. She returned to Jackson Public Schools to administer the GED test at Duling School, retiring from there.

After living in Jackson, she moved back to Forest and worked as a teller at Community Bank and then as secretary at Forest Baptist Church, where she was a member. She moved to Madison and became a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. She then made her home in Brandon, living there for 16 years before moving to The Orchard in Ridgeland, MS.

Margaret was a woman of strength with a strong Christian faith. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and gratitude.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Summers McNeill (married 49 years), parents Spinks and Peggy Singleton of Forest, brother Tommy Singleton of Marrero LA, brother Kenneth Singleton of Forest, and nephew Joel Singleton of Pensacola FL.

Survivors include her daughter, Paula McNeill (Barry Brown) of Jackson, brother Jerry Singleton (Mickie) of Brandon, and several nieces and nephews: Kim Singleton Strong of Madison, Chad Singleton (Brenda) of Harrisville, Jason Cody Davis of Georgetown, Louisiana, Jason Singleton of New Orleans, Dewayne Singleton of Pensacola FL, Kenya Cook of Starkville, MS, and one very special nephew, especially dear to her heart, Stephen Phillips of Nashville.

Her family would like to express sincere gratitude to the Baptist Hospice Team and The Orchard assisted living caregivers for all the wonderful care they gave her. She was surrounded by people that cared for her, and she was very appreciative of each one.

Memorials can be made to Mississippi Food Network or American Cancer Society.
