Margaret Ann Shawn

Margaret Ann Shawn, 79, of Searcy, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. She was born on January 7, 1946, in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late Levi and Hattie (Putney) Stallings.

Margaret was a devoted member of Crosby Baptist Church for many years. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—watching the hummingbirds, a white squirrel, and other critters that often visited her yard, tending to her flower garden (preferably her hydrangeas, peonies, and tulips), cross-stitching (she even won a blue ribbon in the county fair for her work), and working puzzles in her quiet time. She loved spending time outside drinking coffee and visiting with those she loved, especially her best friend Sarah. She was known to always have a shoulder to cry on, something to make you smile, and a cup of coffee (even to her grandchildren when they were little). She helped raise many children in an in-home daycare and took you in if you needed a home. She was a mother to her many siblings after her mother passed. You can’t come up with a story about her that wouldn’t make you smile.

She is survived by her children, Dena Anderson and husband Kyle, Bobby Shawn (Devra Rivkin-Shawn), and Jamey Shawn; her grandchildren, Kylah Robinson (David), Blake Anderson, Briar Shawn (Kayla), and Haven Cullum (Aaron); eight great-grandchildren: Ethan, Bentley, Parker, Carter, Will, Jayden, Soren, Hartley. She also leaves behind her siblings: Kenny Stallings, Laverne Reese, Cathy Greene, Kim Watts-Avery, Janie June Stallings, James Stallings; and one ex-daughter In-law, Karen Shawn.

Margaret was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, Bob Shawn; her parents; three siblings: Martha, Trish, and Doug; and many dear friends.

Her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 7, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Searcy McEuen Funeral Home Chapel with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
