Margaret "Peg" Sindelar peacefully passed away at home on February 25, 2025, at the age of 99. Fondly known as "Grandma Egg" by her two-year-old, great-grandchild, Peg was a beloved presence in the lives of family and friends. She cherished spending time with loved ones and particularly enjoyed engaging with children. Whether teasing, challenging, or teaching, she had a unique way of making every moment spent with young ones memorable, leaving them with smiles, a sense of confidence, and an insatiable curiosity. Peg's friendships with her peers were equally vibrant, often revolving around tennis, golf, outdoor adventures, and exploring new experiences. She was a gifted artist, had a passion for reading, loved flowers and classical music, and possessed unending curiosity and creativity.
Peg and her husband, Joe loved and complemented each other wonderfully. They enjoyed travelling and learning new things, but were happiest when around their family. After his passing, Peg found a new sense of community at Wyndemere, where she created "LSD parties" (Ladies Sunday Drinking), a tradition where local women gathered to share a glass of wine and enjoy lively conversations on Sunday afternoons.
A woman of deep compassion, Peg volunteered at an inner-city school and supported numerous causes throughout her life. She was always ready to stand up for those less fortunate and offer her help wherever needed. Her kindness, humor, and generosity will be deeply missed, but her many fond memories will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Peg was born on October 1, 1925, to Louis and Mildred (Frink) Faulkner in Oak Park, Illinois. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Charles Sindelar; one of her daughters, Nancy Sindelar; and her sole sibling, John "Tuck" Faulkner. Peg and Joe had three children: Jody Sindelar, Nancy Sindelar (deceased), and Scott Sindelar. Peg was a proud grandmother to six grandchildren: Jody's children, Tyler Ibbotson-Sindelar (Brianna) and Timothy Ibbotson-Sindelar; Nancy's daughter, MeiXia Sindelar; and Scott's (Mary Jo) daughters, Katie Sopic (Sindelar), Megan Sindelar, and Abby Sindelar. Peg also had one great-grandchild, Charlie, born to Tyler and his wife Brianna.
A Celebration of Peg's Life will be held on Saturday, March 8th from 3:00 to 5:00pm in the Wright Place (Room) of Wyndemere, her Senior Living Facility, 200 Wyndemere Circle Wheaton,IL 60187.
