Margie Miller Dick, 89, died December 11, 2023, at Pleasant Hills Home, Hutchinson. She was born July 5, 1934, in Hutchinson, to William and Ethyl Neighbors.
Margie graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1952 and continued her education at Hutchinson Community College and the University of Kansas. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from McPherson College and a Master of Science Degree from Wichita State University.
On June 27, 1953, Margie married Marvin "Spike" Miller. Together they had two sons. Marvin died March 28, 1996. On April 28, 2000, she married James Dick in Hutchinson.
For 32 years, she taught in the Hutchinson Public School District at both Grandview Elementary and Graber Elementary. Margie remained an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Hutchinson, until her passing. She taught in the Logos youth program, served as a Deacon and an Elder, and was a member of the Dorcas Circle. Margie volunteered at the Cosmosphere International SciEd Center & Space Museum and the Fox Theatre. She was a member of PEO and several bridge clubs.
She is survived by: her husband, James Dick, Hutchinson; son, Martin Miller (Laura Ontjes Miller), Hutchinson; and daughter-in-law, Deb Miller (Jim McLean), Topeka.
Margie was preceded in death by: her husband, Marvin "Spike" Miller; son, Mark Miller; grandson, Adam Miller; brother, David Neighbors; sister, Jackie Gagnebin-Dutton; and parents, William and Ethyl Neighbors.
Celebration of Life service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Sherman, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Christy Kass and Pastor Keith Neill presiding. Private family burial will be at a later date. Friends may sign the book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2024, with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Elliott Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church to benefit the Board of Deacon's Fund or the Cosmosphere to benefit the Youth Camp Scholarship Fund, in care of Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501.
