Margie Nell Smith

Margie Nell Towler Smith, 96, of Huffman, Texas passed away Saturday, August 2, 2025, at her residence.

Margie was born on June 4, 1929, in Dayton, Texas to parents David D. and Susan McWhorter Towler, and has been a lifelong resident of the Huffman area. She was a graduate of the Dayton High School and a homemaker.

Her gentle spirit touched every life she encountered, weaving a tapestry of kindness, warmth, and grace over the course of 96 remarkable years. She carried herself with quiet dignity, teaching us that true strength often speaks in whispers and that a well-lived life leaves an everlasting glow in the hearts of those she loved.

Her laughter was a melody that brightened the darkest rooms, her wisdom a beacon guiding us through life's storms. In her presence, we learned the true meaning of compassion and the art of finding joy in simple moments--a shared cup of tea, a blooming garden, or a cozy afternoon spent in conversation.

Though the world feels a bit dimmer without her radiant smile, her legacy lives on in r memories and in the stories, we'll continue to tell. Each act of kindness, each lesson of patience and perseverance, carries forward the glow she so generously bestowed upon us.

May we honor her memory by living with the same open heart and generous spirit she showed every day. As we grieve her loss, let us also celebrate the extraordinary gift of her life-a gift that shaped ours in ways we will cherish forever.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents; husband Billy Jean Smith; daughter Peggy Jean Reidland; son David Carlton Smith; siblings Verda James, Dorthy Patterson, Hazel Morris, Virgina Waldrop, D.D. Towler, Jewel Poe, Sally Boon, and Howard Towler.

She is survived by her son Donald Ray Smith and wife Venita; sister Bonnie Morris; brother Marvin Towler and wife Barbara; daughter-in-law Brenda Smith; grandchildren Guy Smith and wife Amanda, Tyson Smith and wife Brooke, Barry Holloway, Corey Sanders, Kyle Smith, Amber Sullivan and DaNelle Page; great-grandchildren BJ Smith, Bethany Smith, Ty David Smith, Bella Smith, Dixon Smith, Eliza Smith, Tristin Page, Lorelai Sullivan and Casey Sanders; and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Huffman Cemetery in Huffman, Texas.
