Margo Anderson Obituary Beverly Margo Anderson, affectionately known as Margo, a resident of Warsaw, Indiana passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana at the age of 77.
She came into this world alongside her twin sister, Pamela, on November 2, 1947 in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was one of eight children born to Matty Alice (Locke) Bates and Robert Edward Bates. Margo was raised in Oak Hill, Ohio, an active member of 4-H and saddle club. She graduated from Oak Hill High School in 1966 where she played the trombone & trumpet in the high school marching & concert band.
Margo married the love of her life, Samuel "Sam" Arthur Anderson on April 27, 1968. He was originally from Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and they made Warsaw, Indiana their home. They were blessed with 56 years of marriage, raising one son and two daughters and experienced the joy of becoming grandparents multiple times. She dearly loved her role as Nana!
Throughout her life she worked in home health care, caring for others through her sister Karen's business, Royal Home Healthcare and then privately. She loved being outside, and enjoyed a good adventure. Margo delighted in a good day garage-saling, sewing and quilting. She was a diehard Cubs fan, participated on the KCH Softball Team for several years, was a passionate sports spectator, a werewolf slayer, and just a regular villager.
She was a member of Sew Special Network of Northern Indiana, and an active member of Heartland Church in Bourbon and Touch of Life Church in Warsaw. She loved people and loved her church family and enjoyed being part of the worship teams, as she loved music and singing. Margo had a heart for helping others and founded Hands for the World Foundation. She had gone on numerous mission trips to Haiti & Belize. Always the social butterfly, she never met a stranger. Margo loved volunteering and put her sewing skills to use having made and donated several thousand masks during the COVID pandemic, blankets and walker bags for nursing home residents, and nearly 1,000 drawstring backpacks for kids in Belize. She made and donated clothing, feminine care products, for women and children in Haiti and shawls for various assisted living residents.
Margo was an amazing wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt and friend to many. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Sam Anderson (Warsaw, IN); son, Samuel "Andy" (Rebecca) Anderson II (Green, KS); and two daughters, Belinda (Marc) Miller (Warsaw, IN); Jessica (Jeremy Gonis) Anderson (Warsaw, IN). She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Chance Anderson (Kaufman, TX); Alexis Miller, Joshua Gervasi, Josiah Miller, Isabelle Miller, Gabriella Miller (all of Warsaw, IN); Kevin Jones and Amanda Jones (both of Gardner, KS); and Ally Jones (Clay Center, KS); and great-grandchildren, Timothy and Evelynn Himelick; Paityn and Skylar Jones.
Also surviving is her twin sister, Pamela Dyanne Bates (Oak Hill, OH); and sisters, Vickie Fowler (Yellow Springs, OH); and Joyce Bates (Columbus, OH); brother, Fred R. Carpenter (Oak Hill, OH). She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, church families and sewing friends and her granddog, Daphne.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Larry R. Bates, William Patrick "Pat" Bates, Herbert Michael "Mike" Bates, Gerald Steven Bates, and two sisters, Karen Elizabeth Stewart, Belinda Jocelyn "Jackie" Carpenter.
Margo's life will be celebrated with a service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Touch of Life Church, 2339 W Old Rd 30, Warsaw, Indiana and officiated by Pastor Marc Miller of Heartland Church and Pastor Rick Cooper of Touch of Life Church.
