Marguerite (Marge) Pittner Mages passed away on June 14, 2024 in Frisco, TX surrounded by Family.
Rosary will be at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gainesville on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. followed by visitation and service at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, under the direction of George J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
Marguerite was born on April 26, 1922, in Gainesville to Anna and Adolph Pittner. She attended St. Mary's school, graduated from Gainesville Memorial High School and attended Brantley Draughon Business College in Ft. Worth. She worked at Camp Howze in the Officers Personnel Department and met her husband while working there. Marguerite Pittner and Edgar Mages were married at St. Mary's Catholic Church on October 2, 1945. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and a very loving Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma who will be greatly missed. We will all treasure the good and fun times spent with her.
Marguerite and Edgar made their home on a farm East of Gainesville where they raised two children. She is survived by her Daughter and Son-in-law, Virginia and David Thetford of Frisco, TX, Son and Daughter-in-law, Donald and Patti Mages of Gainesville, TX, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which were her "Pride and Joy", Devin and Melissa Thetford (Kennedy, Landry, Logan, and Brady) of Celina, TX, Derek and Kristi Thetford (Addison and Landon) of Argyle, TX, Josh and Angelic Frith (Benle) of Gainesville, TX, Bradley and Vicki Frith (Cheyenne, Jackson, Judson and Jentry) of Sour Lake, TX, Sister-in-laws, Hank Dieter, Verna Mages, Emma Pelzel, Chubby Voth and husband Jerome, and many nieces and nephews.
Marguerite was preceded in death by husband Edgar on March 17, 2000, her parents, Adolph and Anna Pittner, Sisters and Brother-in-laws, Helen and Pete Odell, Frances Cox, Catherine and John Arend, Brother and Sister-in-law, George and Opal Pittner, William Pittner and Richard Pittner.
Marguerite loved gardening, cooking, sewing, knitting and working in her yard. She knitted many caps over the past 15 years and donated them to children's hospitals, family and friends.
