Marguerite Sofia Turnley, 94; was rescued from this world by our Lord Jesus on September 13, 2023.
She was born on August 31, 1929, in the township of Oxford, Johnson County, Kansas to her parents, Clarence LeRoy Anderson and Ruth Armilda (Harmon) Anderson.
Marguerite was married to Earnest Aylett Turnley on Flag Day, June 14, 1954, in Wyandotte County, Kansas. This union brought forth six children: Ruth Belle Vick (Tim), Rose Marie Turnley, Ernest LeRoy Turnley, John Paul Turnley, Gayle Scott Turnley and Sofia Rae Hurley (Kevin).
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Earnest Aylett Turnley; her Father and Mother; three brothers, LeRoy Anderson, Lowell Harmon Anderson, and August Scott Anderson; two sons, Gayle Scott Turnley and Ernest LeRoy Turnley; two grandsons, Bradford Vick and Stephen Vick and two brother-in-law's, Carl Jesse and Ted Propst.
She is survived by her son, John Paul Turnley, his two daughters, Jennifer and Kristina; her daughters, Ruth Belle Vick (Tim), their children, Timothy, Sofia, Josiah, Robert, Ruthanna and Moriah; Rose Marie Turnley and Sofia Rae Hurley (Kevin) and children, Shannon, Amber, Max, Donald, Kolton and Audra along with a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her brothers, David Anderson (Lynda), Edward Anderson (Rae), Emmett Anderson (Pam) and sisters, Editha Propst, Mary Jesse, Dorothy Wheat (Stanley), Ada Anderson and two sister-in-law's, Sylvia Anderson, and Mary Anderson.
Marguerite joined the United States Navy on December 15, 1952, where she served stateside during the Korean War. She was immensely proud of the Navy and has told numerous stories to us over the years.
She loved her parents' farm and driving the tractor which she named Charlie. She loved her Mother's beautiful flower gardens. She was an avid gardener and grew beautiful and delicious fruit trees, raspberries, blackberries, grapes, and asparagus. She loved to study the Word of God and she prayed daily for her children and grandchildren, even unto the eighth generation. She prayed for her brothers and sisters and their children and grandchildren. She would reference our family "names and address" document to ensure she did not miss anyone. Marguerite reached out to her residents and neighbors in Fairview, MO; she regularly contributed pies for memorial dinners and other community events. We have witnessed the faith of her prayers work for the good in my life and am so thankful we had a God-fearing Mother to pray for us.
There came a time in our lives when she knew she needed help raising her children and she and Dad made the difficult decision to allow Scott and Sylvia; Lowell and Mary and Emmett and Pam to provide that help. We are thankful that they had the courage to make that decision and we thank them!
We are also thankful for the care and treatment she received in her last days at the McDonald County Living Center. They were kind and compassionate and for that we are grateful.
Our Mother will be forever missed, and we will long for the day that we will see her again in Heaven.
