Maria Buccella

It is with deep sadness that the Buccella family shares the news of Maria Buccella's passing. Maria was born on December 30, 1927, and peacefully departed on July 3, 2023.
Maria's journey began in the town of Montella, Italy, where she grew up alongside her two sisters, Grazia and Yolanda, and her brother Pasquale. It was in Montella that she met her late husband, Salvatore. Together, they experienced the hardships of World War II. When the war ended, Maria and Salvatore embarked on a new chapter, immigrating to America in pursuit of the American dream.
In America, Maria dedicated her life to raising her four children: Salvatore, Dino, Sergio, and Renzo. Her children married Julia, Charmaine, Kristie, and Lisa, respectively, and blessed Maria with eight grandchildren: Lisa, Michael, Brandon, Melissa, Aileen, Joseph, Hunter, and Wyatt.
Maria led a humble existence centered around her family and faith. She found joy in gardening, nurturing her flowers, maintaining her home, cooking for her loved ones, and enjoying evening strolls with her close friends. As her children grew older, Maria joined Publisher's Clearing House, where she earned the respect of her colleagues and superiors.
Maria's unwavering support and love for her family were her defining qualities. She embraced the importance of family and served as the foundation for her loved ones. She extended her generosity to numerous charitable causes and her church, believing that what one gives in this world, one receives in return.
In her later years, Maria would regale her family with stories of triumph and resilience, recounting her experiences during times of war, the treacherous journey across the Atlantic on the ill-fated Andrea Doria, and the overwhelming emotions of stepping into her first home with her newborn son. Her life was filled with extraordinary moments, despite her humble nature.
Now, the time has come for Maria to find eternal rest. Services will be held at Roslyn Heights Funeral Home in Roslyn Heights on Monday, July 10th from 2-4 & 7-9PM, followed by a morning service 9:30AM on July 11th at Our Lady of Fatima Church. Maria will be laid to rest alongside her husband at Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington.
Maria Buccella's life may have been simple, but it was truly remarkable. Her legacy lives on through the love she shared with her family and the countless memories they hold dear.
