Maria N. (Giunta) Collard, 85, of Coventry, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Leo Collard, with whom she shared 54 wonderful years of marriage.
Born in Queens, NY, Maria was one of six children born of the late Bernard and Anna (Sanfilippo) Giunta. A former employee of Metropolitan, Maria changed paths in her career and chose to work side by side with her husband as interior painters and wallpaperers for over twenty years prior to retiring.
A woman of many joys, Maria loved reading, dancing, attending the theatre, playing cards, cats, bingo and trying her luck at the casino. She was also an exceptional cook and found great happiness traveling with her husband to many destinations throughout their life together. Above all, Maria treasured the time she spent with her family. Her greatest joy came from caring for and doting on her beloved grandchildren, whom she adored with all her heart.
Maria is survived by her daughter, Deborah Collard, and her two children, Gavin and Isabell of Coventry; son, Scott Collard and his wife Michelle, as well as their daughter Sydney, of Warwick; and her sister,Teresa. She was predeceased by her siblings, Ann, Rose, Dominic, and Thomas.
Relatives and friends are invited to join her Visitation on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 10:00am-12:00pm, in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave, Warwick. Her Funeral Service will take place immediately following in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery Chapel, Exeter, at 1:00pm, where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
