Maria Adriana Estrela, October 11, 1944, Ponta Delgada, São Miguel, Açores - September 26, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved ‘Tiana’. Maria Adriana Estrela passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2025 at the age of 80 years. She is survived by her sister, Maria Fatima Toledo; her nieces, Nancy (Steven) Dupont, Charlene (Chad) Stevenson, and her nephew Frank Toledo; great nieces and nephews, Michelle, Joshua, Nicolas, Brooke and Olivia. She is predeceased by her parents, Antonio Estrela and Maria de Lordes Estrela; her sister, Maria Louisa Estrela, and her brother-in-law, Francisco Toledo.
A woman of great independence and quiet strength, Adriana devoted her life to faith, family, and community. An extraordinary and gifted seamstress, she poured her skill, artistry, and patience into every stitch, creating brides’ wedding dresses and timeless keepsakes to be cherished for generations. A gifted cook she shared her talents generously, enriching the lives of those around her. She also served as a dedicated Scout leader, guiding young people with patience, kindness, and a spirit of service.
Rooted deeply in her Catholic faith, Adriana lived each day with devotion and gratitude. A member of the Catholic Women’s League for many years, she found joy in creating beautiful quilts to donate to the organization. Adriana loved her family dearly and was a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend. Her family takes comfort in knowing that her faith has carried her home, and that the legacy of her love, generosity, and strength will continue to inspire all who knew her.
Visitation and prayers will take place at Pierson's Funeral Service (4121 - 17 Avenue SE, Calgary) on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 6:00pm.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (1525 - 45 Street SE, Calgary) on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing at 10:00 a.m.
Graveside Service will be at Mountain View Memorial Gardens (1605 - 100 Street SE, Calgary) following Mass.
